At least 3 killed in overnight Russian attack on Kiev

Russia launched missile strikes on Ukraine overnight. The main target of the attack was a government building in the capital, Kiev. According to Reuters, at least 3 people were killed in the attack on Saturday (September 6), including a newborn. 18 others were seriously injured. Several high-rise residential buildings were destroyed by bombs. Several buildings caught fire in a series of explosions. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the missile strike came shortly after the drone strike. The attack set government buildings in the center of the capital on fire. In a message sent on Telegram, Klitschko said a child and a young woman were killed in the drone strike. Five people, including a pregnant woman, were hospitalized. Fire and thick black smoke were visible as of Sunday morning. Sirens could be heard throughout most of the country throughout the night. The city of Krivoy Rog, the birthplace of President Volodymyr Zelensky, was also hit. Three facilities were targeted. The state emergency service said a drone strike in the area set fire to two floors of a four-story residential building and partially collapsed it. Meanwhile, Ukraine has also launched a counterattack inside Russia. Moscow said it had shot down 69 drones.
