Warrant issued against assistant judge in dowry case.

A court has issued an arrest warrant against Nilphamari district senior assistant judge Md. Niaz Makhdum Shibli in a case filed over dowry assault. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq issued the order on Sunday. The plaintiff of the case is Afrida Airin Arshi (30), daughter of Abul Kalam, a resident of Dakshin Kalyanpur under Darus Salam police station in the capital.

Said plaintiff’s lawyer Md. Touhidul Islam Sajeeb, in the case filed in 2024 under Section 3 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, the first step that the court issued was a summon against her. But as the accused did not appear in the court, he applied for an arrest warrant, which the court granted on Sunday.
