Asif Nazrul calls for IPL broadcast to be stopped in Bangladesh

Mustafizur Rahman has been released from the Kolkata Knight Riders team of the IPL on the instructions of the BCCI. However, Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul has criticized and protested the incident. Asif Nazrul wrote on his verified page on social media Facebook, ‘The Indian Cricket Board has ordered the Kolkata Knight Riders to bow down to extremist communal groups and exclude Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the team. I strongly condemn and protest this.’
Asif Nazrul has also requested to take the initiative to stop the IPL broadcast in Bangladesh, ‘I have requested the Information and Broadcasting Minister (Advisor) to stop the broadcast of IPL games in Bangladesh! We will not accept any insult to Bangladeshi cricket, cricketers and Bangladesh under any circumstances. The days of slavery are over.’
Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board’s order to drop Kolkata’s Mustafiz has raised concerns about the safety of Bangladesh cricketers in the T20 World Cup to be held in India in February. Bangladesh is scheduled to play three matches in Kolkata and one in Mumbai in the first phase of the World Cup. Asif Nazrul said that he will instruct the BCB to write to the ICC asking them to shift these matches to another host country, Sri Lanka.
The Youth and Sports Advisor wrote on Facebook, “As the Minister in charge of the Sports Ministry, I have asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bangladesh Cricket Board) to explain the entire matter to the ICC. The board should inform that where a Bangladeshi cricketer cannot play in India despite being under contract, the entire Bangladeshi cricket team cannot feel safe going to play the World Cup. I have also instructed the board to request that Bangladesh’s World Cup games be held in Sri Lanka.”
