Arrest warrant against 46 people including Sheikh Hasina
Arrest warrants for 46 people including Sheikh Hasina have been sent to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam.
Tajul Islam, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal, gave this information. He said this while talking to journalists at the tribunal on Wednesday morning.
The chief prosecutor said, “Many of the 46 people who were issued warrants have been arrested. The law and order forces are responsible for arresting the rest. Hopefully, they will take action at the time fixed by the court.
Legal adviser Asif Nazrul, who was present at the time, said that between November 1 and 3, the trial can be started at the main building of the tribunal.
When asked about the meeting with the Chief Justice on Tuesday, the legal adviser refused to comment.
Before this, legal adviser Asif Nazrul and housing adviser Adilur Rahman Khan came to inspect the reform work of the tribunal. At this time, along with Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam, they visited the renovation work in the main building of the old tribunal.
Incidentally, the trial of the massacres that took place in July and August during the anti-discrimination student movement has begun. On October 17, the International Criminal Tribunal issued arrest warrants against 46 people, including Awami League president and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
On this day, the chief prosecutor of the tribunal, Advocate Mohammad Tajul Islam, applied for an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina. He has been ordered to be arrested and appear before the tribunal by November 18.
Tribunal Chairman Justice Md. Ghulam Mortuza Majumdar gave this order. The members of the tribunal are – Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
