Army operation recovers drugs, weapons, ammunition, 6 arrested
A large amount of drugs, illegal weapons, ammunition and cash have been recovered in a special operation by the Bangladesh Army in the areas adjacent to the Sayedabad bus terminal and railway line in the capital. During this time, a total of six people, including the family members of notorious drug dealer and terrorist Auto Sajal, have been arrested. On Monday (January 26), a smart team under the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade of the Bangladesh Army conducted this special operation in the Sayedabad area based on intelligence information early on Monday (January 26).
As part of the operation, searches were conducted at the houses of notorious drug dealer and terrorist Auto Sajal and his associates Raju, Farooq, Zahid, Sajeeb and Joni. Although the main accused Auto Sajal was able to escape after sensing the presence of the army during the operation, six people, including his associates and family members, have been arrested. The army said that efforts are continuing to arrest the fugitive Auto Sajal.
The arrested are – Md. Umar Farooq (35), Md. Zahidul Islam (38), Mosha: Fatema Akhtar (21), Md. Johnny (35), Md. Sajib (25) and Md. Rabbi Ullah (26).
During the operation, a large amount of illegal goods were recovered from various places including the roof of Auto Sajal’s house. The recovered goods included two 7.65 mm foreign automatic pistols, 8 rounds of fresh bullets, 5,108 pieces of Yaba tablets, 270 pieces of pure heroin, 13 domestic sharp weapons, cash of 8 lakh 26 thousand 430 taka, three cocktails and cocktail making materials, 20 mobile phones and two bottles of foreign liquor.
The army said that the entire operation was conducted with great professionalism and caution and no untoward incident occurred. The arrested person and the recovered goods have been handed over to Wari Police Station for further legal action.
Wari Police Station SI Md. Rezaul Karim said that six people were arrested in the army operation along with drugs and illegal weapons. After receiving primary treatment at Dhaka Medical College, the arrested persons are being handed over to the police station through legal process.
