Arijit Singh announces retirement
In a big surprise to music lovers, popular playback singer Arijit Singh has announced his retirement from playback. He announced the decision in a post on his verified Facebook page.
In a Facebook post, Arijit Singh expressed his gratitude to the audience. He wrote, ‘Happy New Year everyone. Thank you all for the love you have given me over the years. I am happy to announce that from now on I will not be taking up any new playback work. I am ending it here. It has been a great journey.’
The announcement has left fans in a state of shock. For a long time, Arijit Singh was the most reliable voice in Hindi film songs. Till the end of 2025, he regularly lent his voice to Hindi and regional film songs. From romantic and emotional songs to item songs, his presence was noticeable everywhere.
Arijit Singh has given numerous popular songs. These include ‘Tum Hi Ho’, ‘Channa Mereya’, ‘Raabta’, ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’, ‘Kesaria’, ‘Shayad’, ‘Phir Le Aaya Dil’ and ‘Aye Dil Hai Mushkil’. It is not yet clear what kind of music he will pursue in the future. However, Arijit said that he will not be seen as a playback singer anymore.
