Appeal to the Tribunal seeking a ban on the dissemination of Sheikh Hasina’s hate speech.

An application has been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal seeking a ban on the dissemination of hate speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India, through the media and social media. This application was filed on behalf of the prosecution in the relevant branch this Thursday morning.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumdar will hear the application at 12 noon today.

It is worth noting that Sheikh Hasina fled the country to India on August 5 during the mass uprising of students and the public. She is currently in India. From there, she is making various comments about the interim government. She is talking to leaders and activists on the phone and asking them to spread those statements herself. They have also gone viral on social media.

Recently, Sheikh Hasina spoke virtually at a discussion organized in the United States from Indian soil. That speech was also circulated on various social media platforms.

The prosecution says that this application is to stop all the hate speech that Sheikh Hasina is giving.

Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal on November 18 ordered the completion of the investigation into the case filed against Sheikh Hasina in connection with the July-August genocide within a month. The report must be submitted by December 17. Earlier, an Interpol red notice was requested to arrest Sheikh Hasina. This is still under process.

Incidentally, hundreds of complaints of genocide and crimes against humanity committed across the country from July 5 to August 5 have been submitted to the investigation agency and prosecution office of the International Crimes Tribunal so far. On October 17, the International Crimes Tribunal’s judicial proceedings began with the issuance of arrest warrants against 46 people, including Sheikh Hasina, on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.

In the meantime, the International Crimes Tribunal has ordered the detention of nine former ministers, two advisors, a retired judge and a former secretary of the Awami League government on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
