The Anti-discrimination student movement has called for a mourning and harmony rally at the capital’s Central Shaheed Minar at 2 pm today, Wednesday, in response to the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong. The organization called for the rally in a Facebook post on Tuesday night.

It said, “We will strengthen the grief of our martyred brother with the power of harmony.” At the same time, the poster attached to the post mentioned that this mourning and harmony rally will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar at 2 pm for martyred advocate Saiful Islam Alif at the hands of extremist terrorists.

Earlier on Tuesday, the followers of Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari protested in the court premises after his bail was rejected. During this time, a lawyer named Saiful Islam Alif was killed in the clash. However, it has not yet been confirmed who is responsible for this death.

Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, posted a post on Facebook on Tuesday demanding the speedy arrest and trial of those involved in the murder. He wrote that if any specific organization is involved in the murder, action must be taken against that organization.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University (DU) students have held a protest march and a silent funeral in protest against the killing of lawyer Saiful. DU students in Lohagara Satkania organized a silent funeral and protest rally at the foot of the anti-terrorism Raju sculpture on Dhaka University on Tuesday. Other students also participated in it.

Earlier, around 9 pm, students took out processions from each hall and gathered at the Raju sculpture on various streets of the campus. After the protest march, they held a silent funeral.

On the other hand, Inqilab Manch held a torchlight procession in protest against Saiful’s murder. Later, in a short rally, they demanded that those involved in the murder be brought to justice and that all ISKCON activities be immediately banned.
