Another Saad leader Shafiullah has been arrested.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police arrested Maulana Shafiullah, 46, a top leader of Nizam Uddin Bishwa Markaz (Saad), in connection with the death of a person in a clash over the occupation of the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi. He is the 9th accused in the murder case filed by the Jobayer supporters at Tongi West Police Station.
Earlier, Muaz bin Noor and Zia bin Kashem, a top leader of the Saad supporters in the same case, were arrested by the police. Habibullah Raihan media coordinator of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh Shurayi Nejam (Jobayer) confirmed it.
Police said a team from Tongi West Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police and Shariatpur Model Police Station arrested Shafiullah from Stadium Road area of Shariatpur in a joint operation on Saturday night.
He is the son of the late Badsha Mia of Dogri village of Naria police station in Shariatpur district. He is also known to be the khatib of Mugda Baro Mosque in the capital and one of the top leaders of the Saad supporters.
In this regard, Tongi West Police Station OC Iskander Habibur Rahman told the daily Amer Soomi that Tongi West Police Station police arrested Shafiullah, one of the leaders of the Saad supporters, from Shariatpur in a murder case filed by Maulana Jobair supporters and brought him to the custody of Tongi West Police Station.
