Another Gazipur drug factory explosion.
Junayd Hossain Hridoy, who was burnt in the explosion of a drum at Bristol Pharma in Konabari, Gazipur, has died while undergoing treatment.
The OC of Konabari Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police confirmed the information on Saturday evening.
The OC said four people were burnt in a chemical drum explosion at the Bristol Pharma Limited factory in the BSCIC Industrial Area of Konabari on December 28 around 4 pm. They were admitted to the Dhaka National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. One among them, named Junayd Hossain Hridoy, died this morning while undergoing treatment there.
Earlier, Redowan Ahmed, 25, of Harinachala area of Konabari, Junayd Hossain Hridoy, 17, son of Delwar Hossain of Baimail area of the same police station, Khalid Abdullah, 19, son of Rafiqul Islam of the same area and Arman Hossain, 22, of the same area were burnt in the explosion. They are all factory workers.
The Fire service and eyewitnesses said four workers of Bristol Pharma Limited factory in the Konabari BSCIC area went to perform ablution. A drum of chemicals, kept next to the electric switch in a room of a nearby tinshed, exploded. Four workers were burnt. Getting the information, the factory people doused the fire before the workers of the Konabari Modern Fire Service reached the spot. Four burnt people were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Saiful Islam, warehouse inspector of the Konabari Modern Fire Service, said that there was an electric switch beside the chemical drum at the spot. The explosion is suspected to have happened because of an electrical fault.
