Another boat sinks in the Mediterranean with 66 people on board

A boat carrying migrants has capsized in the Mediterranean Sea again. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the boat that sank off the coast of Libya was carrying Pakistanis, including citizens of several countries. However, the condition of the passengers is not yet officially known.

According to a report by Pakistani media outlet Geo News, the country’s officials are trying to find out about the Pakistani citizens. In a statement, they said that the boat sank near the port of Marsa Dela on the coast of Zawiya in northwestern Libya. At that time, there were 65 people on board.

The Pakistani embassy in Tripoli said that they were checking at Zawiya Hospital. It has not yet been confirmed whether any of the dead are Pakistanis.

Earlier this year, 40 Pakistani citizens died in a boat sinking on the way from Mauritania, Africa, to Spain. There were 86 people on the boat. Of them, 66 were Pakistanis. Even before that, more than 80 Pakistanis died in a boat sinking near Greece on December 13 and 14.
