America is now ‘in darkness’ because of Trump: Obama
Former President Barack Obama has sharply criticized the administration of current US President Donald Trump. He warned that the country is ‘in darkness’ because of Trump. He also described the Trump administration as a symbol of ‘lack of law and order and common sense’. Sama TV reported.
On Saturday (November 1), local time, Obama, one of the most influential leaders of the Democratic Party, attended the election rallies of Virginia gubernatorial candidates Abigail Spanberger and New Jersey’s Mickey Sherrill. He made the remarks to an enthusiastic crowd at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. Barack Obama said, ‘Frankly, our country and our policies are now in darkness. This White House is displaying new levels of lawlessness, recklessness, hatred and just plain madness every day.
Criticism of Trump’s policies
The former US president has criticized Trump’s policies, especially his tariff policies and the strategy of deploying the National Guard to American cities. At the same time, he described these actions as “chaotic” and “misguided”.
He blamed Republicans in Congress, saying that they failed to control Trump, even when they knew that he (Trump) was crossing the line. Obama compared the White House to Halloween, saying, “Every day is like Halloween here – but it’s all a farce, no joy.”
The former US president mocked Trump, saying, “Honestly, he’s focused on some important things – like making sure that shoes don’t get dirty in the Rose Garden and building a $30 million ballroom.” In his closing remarks, Obama called on voters to “stand up for truth, compassion and democracy.” “Democracy doesn’t disappear overnight – it slowly erodes when people stop paying attention. It’s all our responsibility to defend what’s right,” he said.
