Afridi to meet jailed Imran Khan
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is likely to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Chairman Imran Khan, who is lodged in Adiala Jail, on Thursday (October 23), The Express Tribune reported.
According to the report, Chief Minister Afridi’s name tops the list of five PTI leaders that Senator Ali Zafar has made to meet Imran. The list has already been sent to the Adiala Jail administration.
Apart from Afridi, the list includes MNA Junaid Akbar, MPA Meena Khan, Sajjad Cheema and Rana Faraz Noon. The party said that the delegation will meet the PTI founder on the scheduled date today. This will be the second attempt by Chief Minister Afridi as his previous request for a meeting was not approved. Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has formed a larger bench to hear all the cases related to the meeting with PTI founding chairman Imran Khan together.
According to the court’s agenda, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar – whose other two members are Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Azam Khan – will hear the cases today, Thursday.
The cases listed for hearing include Chief Minister Afridi’s plea for permission to meet Imran Khan and a plea by a prisoner Irfan demanding the same facilities in jail as the PTI leader.
Today, the bench will also hear the contempt of court petitions filed by Shibli Faraz, Aleema Khan, Salman Akram Raza and other PTI leaders, alleging that they were not allowed to meet Imran Khan despite a clear order from the court.
Besides, petitions related to the Adiala Jail and the prison inspection policy, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and administrative matters under the Punjab government will also be presented before the same bench. The Islamabad High Court has already published the agenda for today’s hearing, where all the related petitions have been scheduled for hearing together.
