Advisors Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud to resign today

Two student representatives who were on the advisory council of the interim government are going to resign today before the schedule for the 13th national parliament election is announced. They are Information Advisor Mahfuz Alam and Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan.
These two advisors informed the concerned government about the matter yesterday (December 9). Meanwhile, advisor Asif Mahmud will hold a press conference at the secretariat today (December 10) at 3 pm. The press conference may be called to announce the resignation.
Earlier, yesterday, some senior advisors met the chief advisor in Jamuna. There, the issue of the resignation of the two advisors came up. Many in the advisory council, including high-ranking officials of the interim government, agree that the advisors of the two student representatives should not remain in the government after the schedule is announced.
Two days after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5 last year, on August 8, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus. In this government, they were placed in the government as representatives of the students who led the July mass uprising.
