Advisor Asif reveals plans to contest elections independently
Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government and Youth and Sports, has announced plans to contest the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections independently. Advisor Asif arrived at the Dhanmondi Police Station Election Office to cast his vote this Sunday (November 9) afternoon. Later, he made the remarks in response to questions from reporters.
“I am sure that I will contest from Dhaka. I have cast my vote here from that place. I hope the vote will not be wasted,” Asif Mahmud said. Asked from which constituency he will contest the elections, he said, “No final decision has been made yet on where I will contest. But it is certain that I will contest the elections from Dhaka.” Regarding the agreement with a political party, the advisor said, “I have not had any discussions with anyone. It is not my job to see which party leaves which seat vacant. For now, I will contest individually.”
Regarding his resignation, he said that the decision on when he will resign from the advisory council will be announced later. Regarding the July charter, Asif said, nothing can be said about the charter right now. The government is thinking about the people. It is moving forward equally in the areas of justice, reform and democratic transformation. There will be significant progress in the area of justice within this month. And the reform process is ongoing.
