Advisor Asif Mahmud to testify against Hasina today

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, will testify against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the International Crimes Tribunal today.
He said this in a post on his Facebook wall on Wednesday (October 8) night.
Meanwhile, Advisor Asif Mahmud will also testify against eight people, including former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, in a case of crimes against humanity in the killing of six people in Chankharpul in the capital during the July-August movement. A judicial panel led by International Crimes Tribunal-1 Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder is scheduled to take testimony today (October 9) Thursday.
The four accused arrested in the case are – former OC (Operation) of Shahbagh Police Station Md. Arshad Hossain, Constable Md. Sujan Mia, Md. Imaz Hossain Emon and Md. Nasirul Islam.
The absconding accused are former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former DMP Joint Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, former Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ramna region Shah Alam Md. Akhtarul Islam and former Assistant Commissioner of Ramna region Mohammad Imrul.
On July 14, the tribunal framed charges against eight people, including four absconding accused, in the Chankharpul case and ordered the trial to begin.
It is worth noting that on August 5, 2024, the police opened fire on a peaceful movement of students in the Chankharpul area. In addition to many casualties, Shahriar Khan Anas, Sheikh Junaid, Md. Yakub, Md. Rakib Howlader, Md. Ismamul Haque and Manik Mia Shahrik were killed.
