Acid thrown on old woman in Natore

A case of acid being thrown on an old woman named Halima Begum (70) in Natore. She has been admitted to Modern Sadar Hospital with serious burns. The incident took place at around 2:30 am last Sunday (February 15) in Nazirpur Adarsh ​​village of Gurudaspur upazila.
The victim’s family members said that Halima Begum left her house with her college-going granddaughter last Sunday night. At that time, miscreants who were waiting in advance threw acid on them. Halima Begum immediately pushed her granddaughter away, but she herself was also burned by the acid. Her family members rescued her and first took her to the Upazila Health Complex, from where she was shifted to Sadar Hospital.
Gurdaspur Police Station OC Shafiquzzaman Sarkar said that there was a land dispute between Chameli Begum and her neighbors. This led to the acid throwing incident. The OC said that no written complaint has been received in this incident yet. He said that if a complaint is received, legal action will be taken after investigation.
