Acid tanker falls into river as a bridge collapses in Brazil.
A bridge carrying a sulfuric acid tanker collapsed in Brazil and dropped three trucks into the Tocantins River, leaving a single death and five still missing.
The British news outlet Reuters reported this in its report on Monday.
As the report said, a bridge connecting two states, in northern and northeastern parts of Brazil, was the venue for the accident on Sunday afternoon local time.
The country’s National Department of Transport Infrastructure said the middle span of the 533-meter-long bridge connecting the city of Agianopolis in Tocantins state with the city of Isteriito in Maranhão state gave in.
The fire service said one person was rescued alive from the scene. Passing by the site at that moment, Agianopolis councilor Elias Junior was taking a video of the bridge to show the authority the problems with it.
He said the bridge was no longer in a condition to carry heavy trucks. He also said there was a crack in the middle of the bridge, as shown in the video below.
