Accused who escaped from Araihazar police station arrested
Police have arrested Ismail (30), who escaped from Araihazar police station in Narayanganj. He was arrested in a raid from Hrekhtpur Bazar area of Araihazar upazila on Tuesday (March 31) night. The arrested Ismail is a resident of Char Kamalapur village of Khagkanda union of Araihazar upazila. His father’s name is Habibullah.
According to the police, on March 29, a person named Billal Hossain filed a case against 13 people at Araihazar police station. Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Ajit Chandra Barman was given the responsibility of investigating the case. After that, Ismail, the fifth accused in the case, was arrested at around 4:30 pm on March 30 and kept in the room of Sub-Inspector (SI) Zahirul Islam at the police station. However, he escaped from there.
Although a police investigation committee has been formed into the incident, no action has been taken against the officer accused of the escape. Police said the arrested accused will be handed over to the court on Wednesday (April 1) morning. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Tarek Al Mehdi confirmed the matter.
