Accused flees on way to court, 2 constables withdrawn
The accused in a drug case, Animesh alias Ghani Gain (32), fled from the premises of Rajoir police station in Madaripur while being taken to court. Two police constables of Rajoir police station were closed in this incident on Monday (August 11) afternoon. The absconding Animesh is the son of the deceased Khitish Chandra Gain of Kadambari Madhyapara village of Kadambari union in Rajoir upazila. He had been involved in drug dealing for a long time. According to police sources, on Sunday (August 10) night, the police of Rajoir police station arrested two drug dealers, Animesh and Malik Bala (34), along with 20 pieces of Yaba tablets from in front of the TCB godown in Tekerhat Ghoshalkandi village of Rajoir upazila. On the same day, Siddique Sheikh (72) was arrested from Gazaria village in Kadambari with ganja and Subhash Bepari (37) with 40 pitches of yaba from Chaurashi village in Bajitpur union. Later, around 12 noon on Monday, the police filed a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act and took them out of the police station to take them to the Madaripur court. Later, while they were being taken to the car, Animesh pushed a police constable and ran away from the police station gate, taking his hand out of the handcuffs. Two police constables of Rajoir police station, Ahsan Habib and Saddam Hossain, who were in charge of the accused in this incident, have been closed. Meanwhile, the police are conducting a drive to catch the absconding accused. According to local sources, Animesh alias Ghani Gain is the brother of Kadambari Union Awami League Senior Vice President Apurba Gain. There are several cases against him, including theft and drugs. In this regard, Madaripur Superintendent of Police Naimul Hasan said that two police constables have been closed in connection with the escape of a drug case accused. Departmental action will be taken against them. At this time, he also said that the operation to catch the absconding accused is ongoing.
