Bank accounts of Mozammel Babu and his family were seized
Bangladesh Bank has seized the bank accounts of Mozammel Babu Ekatar TV managing director Mozammel Haque alias Mozammel Babu. At the same time, the bank accounts of his wife, children and their privately owned companies have also been ordered to be suspended.
Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of Bangladesh Bank has sent instructions in this regard to the banks and financial institutions of the country.
The letter contains the names, addresses and national identity cards of Mozammel Haque, his wife Aparajita Haque and their child Sababa Ishaat Haque.
The letter states that all transactions in the accounts of the individual and their personally owned business accounts will be suspended. They will not be able to do any kind of transaction for the next 30 days. In addition, if necessary, the time to suspend the transaction will be extended.
The letter also said that the relevant provisions of the Anti-Money Laundering Rules will apply to this order to suspend the transaction.
Besides, the account related information or documents such as account opening form, KYC and transaction details should be sent to BFIU within two working days from the date of issue of the letter.
