ACC files case against Jubo League leader Babar couple in Chittagong

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Chittagong Jubo League leader Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar and his wife Jasmine Akhter for amassing illegal wealth worth about 25 million taka. The case was filed at the Chittagong District Office-1 today, Wednesday (August 20) at noon. According to commission sources, both of them have concealed information about their illegal assets in their income tax returns. After a few months of on-site investigation, an ACC team submitted an investigation report. In light of that, a case was filed today. A case was filed against the leader and his wife under Section 109 of the Penal Code. The Awami League government was ousted from power in the mass uprising of 24. Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country on August 5. Since then, the Jubo League leader has been absconding with his family.
