A young man committed suicide after divorcing his wife

Police have recovered the hanging body of a young man named Md. Sajjad Hossain (35) from his house in the capital’s Shajahanpur. The family claims that he committed suicide by hanging himself after his wife divorced him. The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Saturday (August 16) afternoon. The young man’s family has claimed that the young man committed suicide due to depression due to divorce with his wife. Sajjad is the son of Solaiman Mia of Habiganj upazila of Sylhet. He was currently staying with his family in North Shajahanpur area. The deceased Sajjad’s brother Sabbir said, “My brother and I are in the business of sugar and soybean oil. In 2023, my brother married a woman named Mehjabin Sinha. After the marriage, they had a child. There had been a rift between the husband and wife since the child died. Mehjabin got divorced from my younger brother 10 days ago. Out of this pride, my brother committed suicide by hanging himself.’ Shajahanpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) SM Rashidul Islam said, ‘We have recovered the body of the young man in a hanging condition. The body has been sent to the DMCH Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.’
