A portal is being created to get all government jobs at one address.
The government is going to launch a platform called National Job Portal to make the recruitment process in government jobs fast, hassle-free and transparent. The concerned parties hope that this new portal will prevent certificate fraud and end discrimination in the field of employment.
It is learnt that the initial version of this modern portal, developed under the World Bank-funded Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) project under the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), has already been completed. It is currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology for its launch.
According to BCC sources, various facilities have been added to this national portal for job seekers and employers. A candidate can easily apply online from his/her location. On the other hand, in order to ensure transparency and accountability in the recruitment process, the recruiting authority will have the facility to verify various certificates of the applicant online, such as birth registration certificate, national identity card, educational qualification certificate, photo, signature, etc.
As a result, it will be possible to avoid the allegations of fraud of national identity cards and educational qualification certificates that were raised in many cases in the manual method, in the digital method. In addition, modern technologies such as micro-service based, AI and data analytics are being incorporated in this portal.
Those involved in the project say that the national job portal can be a groundbreaking platform for the young generation, which will make the government job application process easy, transparent and accountable. This initiative will eliminate discrimination in the job sector, which will play a role in implementing the spirit of the July Uprising.
In this regard, EDGE Project Director Md. Sakhawat Hossain said, in our country, recruitment is usually done in the traditional way in government jobs, which is very expensive, complicated and time-consuming. Due to following the traditional recruitment process, allegations of inefficiency are often raised.
The project director said that currently there is no complete online recruitment portal for government organizations at the national level in the country, through which all recruitment activities up to the final selection can be completed online in the fastest and easiest way. In such a reality, the government is creating a National Job Portal under the EDGE project. It will provide the facility to complete all the functions of the recruitment process online, from the publication of the notification to the final selection.
Expressing hope that the National Job Portal will be launched very soon, Sakhawat Hossain said that through this, the government recruitment process will be transparent, easy, fast and cost-effective. Along with this, the suffering of the candidates will be reduced and time and cost will be saved.
