A party is repeating the politics of Awami League – Asif and Nahid at a public meeting

A party is carrying out terrorist activities across the country. They are attacking candidates of the 11-party alliance, trying to capture polling stations. Top leaders of the National Citizens Party (NCP) have alleged that these activities are repeating the past fascist politics of the Awami League.
A huge election rally has been organized by the NCP in Moulvibazar-4 (Srimangal-Kamalganj) constituency. In this rally organized at Station Road in Srimangal town at 1:30 pm today, Thursday (January 29), the party’s top leaders delivered important speeches on the ongoing political situation in the country and the upcoming elections. The speakers at the public meeting alleged that a special group is actively working to bring the Awami League, which has been torturing and suppressing the people of the country for 17 years, back into politics through elections. They termed such initiatives as cheating the people.
At the public meeting, party spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said, “Top BNP leaders are giving interviews at various places so that the Awami League, which has been torturing the people of Bangladesh for the past 17 years, can be brought back through elections. They say that if the Awami League is banned, the BNP may also be banned tomorrow. But the question is, if the murderer says, if he is hanged today, then I will not be hanged tomorrow – then where is the guarantee? Then is that justice?” He said, “The thought of the genocide that took place in July is still in their minds. Those who once carried out the genocide are dreaming of coming back to power again today, which is terrible for the nation.” Speaking as the chief guest, NCP convener Nahid Islam said, “After 16 years, this vote is not just an election, it is a referendum. Through this vote, the people will decide whether they want fascism or real democracy.” At this time, Nahid Islam urged voters to beware of false promises and political confusion. He alleged, “A party is carrying out terrorist activities across the country. They are attacking candidates of the 11-party alliance, trying to capture polling stations. This activity is a repetition of the past fascist politics of the Awami League.”
He further said, “A party has filed mass cases against fascists across the country. Now, coming to the election field, they are saying that they will withdraw the cases. This is their strategy. Don’t be confused by this. They have also backed away from their announced 31-point demands. If the one-sided attack continues, the people will respond to it through the ballot on February 12.”
At the public meeting, voters were urged to make Jatiya Nagorik Party candidate Pritam Das win in Moulvibazar-4 constituency. Speakers said that Pritam Das is a worthy representative of this constituency because he is honest, brave and speaks for the people. After the meeting, NCP leaders and activists took out an election campaign procession. The procession circled important roads including Station Road and College Road in Srimangal town.
