According to a report by Singapore-based media outlet The New Straits Times, during the raid, the surrounding environment became chaotic and the migrants started running around. At this time, some migrants tried to escape by hiding in drains, under tables and trying to flee the area.
Immigration Department Deputy Director-General (Operations) Jafri Mbok Taha said that 630 foreigners were arrested in the raid for various immigration offences and 32 were released after being searched.
Among those arrested are 628 men and two women aged between 17 and 57. Of these, 530 are Myanmar nationals, 85 Bangladeshis, nine Indonesians, five Indians and one Nepali illegal immigrant.
All those detained will be sent to the Semenyih Immigration Department for investigation, Jafri said.
