70 percent of people are satisfied with the work of the interim government. And 69 percent said, ‘Dr. Yunus is doing a good job.’ This picture was found in a nationwide survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI). The survey, conducted by the IRI’s Center for Insights in Survey Research, found that participants expressed a high level of confidence in the chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the interim government.
“It is clear that the people see the potential for progress under Dr. Yunus’ leadership. This public confidence in him and the interim government reflects their high expectations for stability, accountability and reform.” The survey also found that voters are also very interested in the upcoming national elections. 66 percent of voters said they were very interested in voting. And 23 percent said they were ‘somewhat interested’. In addition, 80 percent of the survey participants believe that the elections will be free and fair.
Johanna Kao added, “This enthusiasm among Bangladeshis is a testament to the importance of sustaining the reform process and making the elections credible and peaceful.” IRI regularly conducts public opinion surveys in Bangladesh. The organization conducts these surveys to understand people’s views on policies, politics, and governance. The organization is working to increase responsible and issue-based political engagement ahead of the elections.
