7 brokers sentenced to different terms in Noakhali General Hospital
A mobile court conducted a raid at the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital and arrested 7 brokers and sentenced them to different terms in prison. This Sunday (September 21) afternoon, Executive Magistrate of the District Administration Mehrab Hossain and RAB-11 conducted the raid.
Among those sentenced, Milan (35), Harun (34) and Sajib (25) were sentenced to 15 days of simple imprisonment, Ratan (38) was sentenced to 30 days of imprisonment, Akram Hossain (25) was sentenced to 7 days of imprisonment and a fine of 50 taka, and Swapan (44) and Masud (45) were sentenced to 15 days of imprisonment and a fine of 50 taka.
According to sources in the raid, a group of brokers had been harassing patients inside and outside the hospital in various ways for a long time. They used to take patients coming to the government hospital to private hospitals by showing various temptations and misleading them. In return, they used to take a large commission from the private hospital. They also used to extort money from patients coming to government hospitals by promising various tests. Based on this complaint, a raid was conducted in the hospital in the afternoon and 7 brokers were arrested. Later, District Administration Executive Magistrate Mehrab Hossain sentenced them through a mobile court.
Mehrab Hossain said that the services of patients are being disrupted due to the violence of brokers in the hospital. Later, the arrested were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment.
On the other hand, Mithun Kumar Kundu, Company Commander of RAB-11 (CPC-3), said that 7 brokers have been arrested for providing medical services to patients. The mobile court sentenced them and sent them to jail.
