7 arrested with 3,000 liters of petrol in Jamalpur
Seven people were arrested with about 3,000 liters of petrol while they were taking it to the black market for sale in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila. Locals stopped them and handed them over to the police. The incident took place in the Kalibari Bazar of the upazila early on Wednesday (March 25).
The arrested are Hakim Mia (40), son of the deceased Altabur Rahman of the Telipara area of Melandoh Upazila, Ful Mia (38), son of Dulal Bepari of the Sariakandi Katapur Bazar area of Bogra district, and the others are Hafizur Rahman (40), Md. Shah Jamal (50), Md. Maruf Hossain (24), Md. Juglu Mia (44) and Md. Zahurul Islam (45).
Locals said that in the morning, locals saw 15 oil drums being taken in some vehicles. At that time, the vehicles were stopped and searched. Later, 7 people were arrested with a large amount of petrol from the vehicle.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Mizanur Rahman said that locals have arrested 7 people in this incident. Police members are present there. Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazneen Akhtar said that regular cases will be filed against the arrested people. And arrangements will be made for the next auction of the oil.
