7 arrested for beating and burning a youth in Mymensingh
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 7 people on charges of beating and burning a young man of Sanatan religion in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. RAB-14 gave this information on Saturday (December 20) morning. The arrested are Limon Sarkar (19), Tarek Hossain (19), Manik Mia (20), Ershad Ali (39), Nizum Uddin (20), Alamgir Hossain (38) and Miraj Hossain Akon (46). RAB said that they were arrested at different places in the case of beating and killing Dipu Chandra Das.
Dipu, a worker of Pioneer Knit Composite Factory in Dubalipara area of the upazila, was beaten to death last Thursday (December 18) night. After that, an angry mob took the body of the deceased to the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and tried to set it on fire. The deceased’s brother filed a case with Bhaluka Police Station yesterday. Police said that a charge of blasphemy has been filed against the deceased, Dipu Chandra Das.
