6,000 liters of fuel oil seized from two factories in Bhola
A mobile court conducted a raid at two factories in Bhola’s BSCIC Industrial City and seized about 6,000 liters of fuel oil. During this, the owners of the two factories were fined Tk 1.5 lakh. The fine was imposed by the mobile court’s executive Syed Mahmud Bulbul on Tuesday (March 31) night.
The two factories fined are Messrs. Khan Flour Mills owned by Jamal Khan and Trishna Factory owned by Enamul Haque. Of this, 4,000 liters of oil were seized from Khan Flour Mill and 2,000 liters from Trishna Factory.
Meanwhile, immediately after the raid, the factory workers became agitated. They protested by placing bricks and sandbags in front of the mobile court’s vehicle and locking the main gate. Later, the police brought the situation under control. After that, the executive magistrate sealed the two factories.
According to the mobile court, the executive magistrate conducted the raid based on information that oil was being stored illegally in a flour factory in BC. After the raid, the factory owner Jamal Uddin Khan was fined Tk 1 lakh. Similarly, the court also conducted a raid at the Trishna factory in BC. After seizing 2,000 liters of oil from there, the mobile court imposed a fine of Tk 50,000.
At one point in the raid, which lasted for about 3 hours, the factory workers protested and created tension, claiming that the stored oil was legal. They tried to block the mobile court and two police vehicles. Later, the situation calmed down with the help of the owner and locals.
Syed Mahmud Bulbul, executive magistrate of the mobile court, said that the oil was seized due to lack of valid documents and the owners of both factories were sentenced to one month in prison for non-payment of a fine of Tk 150,000. However, the factory owner, Jamal Uddin, claimed that he had received legal permission to store oil to operate the factory.
