5 killed in shooting in Jerusalem
Five people were killed and at least seven seriously injured in a shooting in East Jerusalem. The incident took place at a bus stop in Ramat Junction, north of the city, on Monday (September 8), the BBC and Al Jazeera reported. Israeli police said two gunmen opened fire at a bus stop in Ramat Junction on Monday. At that time, a security officer and a civilian repelled the attackers by returning fire. The attackers suffered casualties. Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service said the dead included three men, a woman in her 50s and a man of the same age. Nine of the injured were taken to local hospitals. Al Jazeera reported that Israeli forces closed all checkpoints between occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank after the five people were killed.
