5 killed in fire at garment factory and chemical warehouse in Mirpur

Five people were killed in a fire at a garment factory and a chemical warehouse called Cosmic Pharma in Shialbari, Mirpur, in the capital. Eight more people were burned in the fire.
The fire broke out at 11:40 am today, Tuesday (October 14). Work is still underway to control the fire.
According to fire service sources, 8 units of the service are working to control the fire that broke out at two factories in Shialbari, Mirpur. However, it was not possible to completely control the fire.
Eyewitnesses said that a sudden explosion occurred in the garment factory. The fire immediately spread to a nearby chemical warehouse. Upon receiving the information, 8 units of the fire service reached the spot one by one and started extinguishing the fire. The army was deployed to handle the crowd of curious people at the spot. Then students of a nearby private university, volunteers, police, RAB and BGB joined their assistance.
Fire Service Director (Operations) Lieutenant Colonel Tajul Islam told us that the fire at the garment factory has been brought under control. However, the fire could not be brought under control due to the presence of various types of chemicals in the chemical warehouse.
