4,978 Hajj pilgrims to get refund of 8 crores: Religious Advisor

In 2025, 4,978 Hajj pilgrims from government agencies will be refunded 8 crores 28 lakh 90 thousand taka, said Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain. On Sunday (July 13), Bangladesh’s 2025 Hajj management, achievements and plans for the next Hajj season were presented to journalists at the conference room of the Ministry of Religion at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The Religious Advisor said, we are working, we are getting support from Hajj officials, we are getting support from the media. We are hopeful that we will get the same support in the future as we were successful in managing Hajj last year. The Advisor said that plans have been made to further reduce the cost of Hajj in 2026 and for this purpose, a Hajj agreement will be signed with Saudi Arabia in November. He also said, our aim is to ensure the highest service to the Hajj pilgrims, to ensure a dignified and easy Hajj for them. We are also giving special importance to maintaining quality standards along with reducing costs. Journalists from various media outlets, senior officials of the Ministry of Religion and representatives related to Hajj activities were present at the time. A total of 45 Bangladeshi pilgrims died in Saudi Arabia during Hajj this year. Of them, 34 were men and 11 were women. According to the Hajj Office bulletin, the main causes of death were old age-related complications and illness. A total of 87,157 pilgrims from Bangladesh have participated in Hajj this year. The Hajj pilgrimage began on April 29 and the last flight left for Saudi Arabia on May 31. This year’s Hajj was held on June 5. The return Hajj flight ended on July 10.
