4 killed in bus crash in Sunamganj: Driver remanded for two days

A court has granted a two-day remand to bus driver Zakir Alam (36), who was arrested in connection with the death of four people, including a university student, in a horrific road accident in Bahadurpur, Sunamganj. On Tuesday (August 12) noon, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Mohammad Jasim granted the remand. Police said that a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG truck occurred in the Bahadurpur area of the Sunamganj-Sylhet regional highway on Wednesday (August 6) afternoon. Four people including Afsana Jahan Khushi (17), a student of Sunamganj Textile Institute, Shafiq Mia (75), a resident of Alipara, and Sneha Chakraborty (17), a student of Sunamganj Science and Technology University, died on the spot. After the accident, RAB arrested the driver from Sylhet on August 7 (Thursday) and later handed him over to Sunamganj Sadar Model Police Station. Highway Police Station SI Nazmul Haque, the plaintiff in the case, said that a seven-day remand application was filed for the bus driver in the bus-CNG collision incident. However, the court granted a two-day remand.
