4 killed, 10 injured in California shooting

At least 4 people were killed and 10 injured in a shooting at a banquet hall in California, US. The attack occurred at a family party shortly before 6pm local time on Saturday (November 29). The shooting happened at a party near the 1900 block of Lucille Avenue in Stockton shortly before 6pm, said Heather Brent, a spokeswoman for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
Heather Brent said it was a family party. She said children and adults were among the dead. The sheriff’s office could not immediately provide details on the exact ages and genders of the victims. Heather Brent said an investigation is underway to identify the gunman.
“This may be a planned incident. However, our first priority right now is to identify the suspect in this incident.” The sheriff’s office spokeswoman could not clarify whether the shooting took place inside or outside the banquet hall. He said the FBI, Stockton police and other law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation. Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee said in a statement that the shooting occurred at a children’s birthday party.
California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office said in a statement on social media that the governor had been notified of the “terrible shooting.” The governor’s Office of Emergency Services is coordinating with law enforcement to monitor the situation.
