31 arrested in separate clashes in Pabna
Police have arrested 12 suspects in the shooting death of a housewife in a clash between two local groups in Sujanagar, Pabna, and 19 people in a clash between two BNP groups in Ishwardi. The clash resulted in shooting, vandalism of offices and setting motorcycles on fire. However, no case has been filed in any of the incidents so far.
A housewife named China Khatun was killed in a clash between the Rafiul Islam Raja clan of Hatkhali Union and the Islam Khan clan of Bhitbila village in Sujanagar upazila on Monday morning (March 23) over dominance in the area. After the incident, the police conducted a raid in the area and arrested 12 people for questioning on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
On the other hand, a clash broke out between district BNP convener Habibur Rahman Habib and former member secretary of Ishwardi Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Mehedi Hasan in Ishwardi, Pabna. The clash took place near the Railgate and Post Office intersection in Ishwardi town yesterday afternoon.
During the clash, there was shooting, vandalism of offices and setting fire to motorcycles. At least 40 people from both sides, including police, were injured in the incident. After the clash, police conducted a drive and arrested 19 people suspected of being involved in the incident.
