3 cargoes of LNG will come from the UK, how much will it cost?
The interim government has approved the import of a total of three cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the UK following the Public Procurement Rules. The total cost will be 1,442 crore 3 lakh taka. On Tuesday (August 19), the interim government approved these proposals at a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement chaired by Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. According to the meeting sources, the government will import 3 cargoes of LNG from the UK. The total cost will be 1,442 crore 3 lakh taka 96 thousand 390 40 paisa. According to the Public Procurement Rules, 2008, approval has been given to import one cargo (42nd for the period 19-20 October 2025) of LNG from Mercus Total Energies Gas and Power Limited of the UK following the international quotation collection process. It will cost 480 crore 67 lakh 98 thousand 796 taka 80 paisa (including VAT and tax). The price of each MMBTU of LNG will be 11.44 US dollars. In addition, in accordance with the Public Procurement Rules, 2008, another cargo (43rd for the period 6-7 October 2025) of LNG has been approved for import from Mercus Total Energy Gas and Power Limited of the United Kingdom. It will cost 476 crore 47 lakh 81 thousand 324 taka 80 paisa (including VAT and tax). The price of each MMBTU of LNG will be 11.34 US dollars. In accordance with the Public Procurement Rules, 2008, another cargo (44th for the period 28-29 October 2025) of LNG has been approved for import from Mercus Total Energy Gas and Power Limited of the United Kingdom. This will cost 484 crore 88 lakh 16 thousand 268 taka 80 paisa (including VAT and taxes). The price of one MMBTU of LNG will be 11.54 US dollars.
