3 autorickshaw passengers killed in car accident
Three passengers of a battery-powered autorickshaw were killed in a car accident in Jamalpur. Five more were injured in the incident. The accident took place at Digpai on the Jamalpur-Tangail road on Monday (October 27) afternoon.
Jamalpur Sadar Police Station OC Nazmus Shakib said that a car going from Jamalpur to Tangail hit an autorickshaw from behind in the Digpai EPZ area at noon. The autorickshaw twisted and one person died on the spot. Locals rescued 7 people, including a child, and sent them to Jamalpur General Hospital. Two more died there.
OC Nazmus Shakib said that the death toll may rise further. He said that after receiving information, the police reached the spot and were able to seize the accident site, but the driver and helper fled. Rashed Ahmed, son of Abdul Haider Ali of Sanakoir area of Sarishabari upazila, died on the spot. The identities of the remaining dead and injured are not yet known.
