215 students kidnapped from school

Gunmen have kidnapped more than 200 people from a Catholic school in central Nigeria. It is the second mass kidnapping at a school in Nigeria this week. The incident took place at St Mary’s School in Papiri, Niger State, on Friday (November 21). Authorities in Niger State had earlier ordered the temporary closure of all residential schools there due to the deteriorating security situation. BBC News
The Christian Association of Nigeria, which works with the Christian community in Nigeria, said gunmen abducted 215 students and 12 staff in an attack early yesterday. In recent days, attacks by new armed groups have increased in Nigeria. On Monday, more than 20 female students were kidnapped from a residential school in Kebbi State. All were Muslim, the BBC was told.
A church in the southern state of Kwara was also attacked. Two people were killed and 38 others were abducted during a church service broadcast online. Meanwhile, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has postponed his foreign trip to deal with the security crisis surrounding the gunman’s attack.
