200 Election Commission officials transferred over allegations of irregularities in last election
The re-demarcation of parliamentary seats will be finalized by August and the purchase of election equipment will be completed by September 30, said Election Commission Secretary Md. Akhtar Ahmed. In addition, 200 Election Commission officials and employees who committed irregularities in the last election have been transferred. He informed this information to reporters at the Election Commission in Agargaon in the capital on Monday (August 4). He said that an observation team of the European Union will come in the second week of September to see the preparations for the parliamentary elections. The EC Secretary said that the Election Commission is working keeping in mind the schedule of the Chief Advisor. For this, the people are being informed about all the activities before the national elections. He said that according to the amended law on the voters’ list, another voters’ list will be prepared before the elections by setting a new cut-out date. A total of 3 voters’ lists will be published this year.
