2 trucks with 49 tons of illegal urea fertilizer have been seized in Nakla, Sherpur, when they were being illegally stored in a dealer’s warehouse instead of being taken to the government fertilizer buffer warehouse. Yesterday, Sunday (February 22), local people and media workers detained them and informed the administration and the local agriculture office and police seized them.
According to police and agriculture office sources, 49 tons of urea fertilizer in 950 bags from the Ashuganj fertilizer factory was supposed to go to the Jhenaigati government fertilizer buffer warehouse in two trucks, but it was stored in the warehouse of Krishna Kanti Roy, proprietor of Nakla upazila fertilizer dealer M/s Srijan Enterprise, and Shahidul Islam, proprietor of M/s Shahidul Islam. In the connivance of a dishonest official of the buffer warehouse. When local people and media workers noticed this, they seized the vehicle with the fertilizer and informed the upazila administration about the matter. Later in the evening, the Upazila Agriculture Officer seized the fertilizer along with the truck and took it to the police station with the help of the police.
Later, Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Wahid Khan said that he showed it to the two dealers and summoned the government fertilizer warehouse buffer officers. In this regard, Nakla Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jahangir Alam said, creating an artificial crisis in the fertilizer market and such measures will not be taken against illegal hoarders. We will take legal action to protect the interests of farmers.
