2 killed, at least 35 injured in head-on collision between bus and pickup in Bhanga, Faridpur
Two people were killed and at least 35 injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup in Bhanga, Faridpur. The collision occurred on the Faridpur-Barisal highway at Bablatala in the upazila at 9 am today, Monday (April 13). The passenger bus skidded off the road and fell into a 40-foot deep ditch in the head-on collision. A passenger of the pickup named Jahangir Molla (40) died on the spot. The deceased’s home is in Kaidubi Sadardi village of Bhanga Municipality.
In addition, 35 passengers of the bus were seriously injured. Fire Service and Highway Police Station police members rescued the injured and admitted them to Bhanga Hospital. Among them, the seriously injured were sent to Faridpur and Dhaka Medical College in government and private ambulances. Another person died on the way to the hospital. Most of the injured had broken or severed hands, legs, heads and various body parts.
SI Mamun of Bhanga Highway Police Station said that a bus named Shah Farid going from Faridpur to Madaripur collided head-on with a pickup truck loaded with goods coming from Tekerhat. As a result, the bus lost control and fell into a 40-foot deep ditch and overturned. Upon receiving the information, we quickly reached the spot and rescued the pickup and sent the injured passengers to various hospitals.
Manager of Bhanga Fire Service Station Abu Zafar said that they reached the spot after receiving the information about the accident around 9 am. Later, they rescued the seriously injured and made arrangements to send them to the hospital.
