2 BNP leaders expelled for being independent candidates

Engineer Masud Rana and Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon, members of the district BNP convening committee, have been expelled from the party for contesting as members of parliament in Bagerhat, defying the party’s decision.
This information was given in a press release signed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday (January 21). The press release said that the leaders they described in BNP have been expelled from all levels of the party, including primary members, due to their involvement in activities against party policies, ideology and discipline.
Meanwhile, Engineer Masud Rana, a member of the Bagerhat district BNP convening committee, is contesting as an independent candidate with the football symbol in Bagerhat-1 constituency. Kapil Krishna Mondal is contesting as the BNP candidate in this constituency. There has been controversy about him since he received the party nomination. Because he was the vice-president of Kalatla Union Awami League in Chitalmari Upazila. On the other hand, Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon, a member of the convening committee of Bagerhat District BNP, is contesting from Bagerhat-4 constituency with the deer symbol. Somnath Dey is contesting as a BNP candidate in this constituency. Since receiving the party nomination, there has been dissatisfaction among local BNP leaders and workers with this former leader of the Jatiya Party. He contested as a Jatiya Party candidate in 2018. And was last a member of the Upazila Awami League. After August 5, he resigned from the Awami League.
