    18 Rohingyas including women and children rescued during trafficking.

    Police rescued 18 Rohingyas, including women and children, during a raid in the hills of Baharchara coastal area of ​​Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar. A broker named Mehboob Prakash Nejam Uddin was also arrested at that time. Among those rescued are 11 women, 5 children and 2 men.

    The arrested broker is Mohammad Hossain Prakash Lal Mohammad, a son of Hazam Para area of ​​Teknaf Sadar Union.

    It is learned that on Wednesday night, police arrested a human trafficking broker along with 18 victims from the Kachchhpia hill area of ​​Baharchara union of Teknaf Upazila.

    Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Gias Uddin said, “On Wednesday night, based on secret information, I came to know that some people were held hostage in the Kachchhpia hill area of ​​Baharchara coastal area of ​​Teknaf Upazila with the intention of smuggling them to Malaysia.” On such news, a special team of the police station conducted a raid in the hills and arrested 18 Rohingya victims going to Malaysia, including 1 broker. Among them, there are 11 women, 5 children and 2 men.’

    The rescued Jannat Ara said, ‘I was supposed to get married in the camp. At that time, my son was demanding three to four lakh taka from his side. How can we pay so much money? That is why I did not get married. One of our relatives lives in Malaysia. My marriage was fixed there. That is why I made preparations to go to Malaysia through brokers. Finally, the police caught us.’

    The OC said that necessary legal action is being taken against the arrested brokers and the rescued victims. The police operation to catch the human traffickers is ongoing.
