15 gold bars recovered at Jhenaidah border
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 15 gold bars worth Tk 2.5 crore at the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah. The gold bars weighing 1 kg 800.15 grams were recovered from the Palianpur border of the upazila on Tuesday (August 12). BGB’s Maheshpur 58 Battalion Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman confirmed this information and said that at around 5:20 pm, a patrol team of Palianpur BOP chased a person who was going to India with gold two kilometers from the main pillar 60/12-R of the border. At that time, the person left the polythene-wrapped potala in his hand and fled. Later, the gold bars were recovered from there. He added that their estimated market value is Tk 2.5 crore. Later, a general diary was filed at Maheshpur Police Station, a seizure list was prepared, and the gold was deposited in the Jhenaidah Government District Treasury.
