    147 people died in a tanker explosion in Nigeria

    The death toll from a fuel tanker explosion in the West African country of Nigeria has risen to 147. It is feared that the death toll may increase.

    A fuel tanker overturned in North Jigawa state late Tuesday night. At this time, many people tried to collect the fuel that was scattered on the road. At that time the tanker exploded. Later it caught fire.

    On Wednesday, National Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Noora Abdullahi said 140 people had been buried. 7 more people were killed.

    Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima said in a statement on Wednesday that the central government is arranging assistance for the victims.
