11-party unity alliance MPs meet to decide on oath

Although they took oath as members of parliament, newly elected BNP MPs did not take oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council. The newly elected MPs of the 11-party alliance, including Jamaat-e-Islami, are scheduled to take oath at 12 noon. Since BNP did not take oath in the Constitutional Reform Council, the newly elected MPs of the 11-party alliance held a meeting under the leadership of the Jamaat Ameer to take their own decision. They will announce their decision after the meeting.
The matter was confirmed by Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Media Coordinator of the 11-party unity communication committee and Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that the members of the 11-party unity alliance sat in a meeting to decide on the oath-taking. The meeting was attended by newly elected MPs of the 11-party electoral unity alliance including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP). Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said that since BNP did not take oath in the Reform Council, it is completely against the referendum. A decision on this matter will be taken at the meeting. After the meeting, a final decision will be taken on whether the newly elected members of parliament of the 11-party alliance will take the oath.
