11-party alliance calls to protest vote rigging
The 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami has alleged irregularities and rigging in the 13th parliamentary elections and various post-election violence. They have announced to take to the streets in protest. The leaders of the alliance have already announced a program. As part of the program, the 11-party alliance will hold a protest march in Dhaka tomorrow, Monday (February 16).
The 11-party alliance announced this program after meeting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Sunday (February 15) afternoon. Earlier, they had appeared at the Election Commission building to raise allegations of irregularities and rigging in the 13th parliamentary elections and various post-election violence. A meeting was held at the Election Commission at around 12 noon today under the leadership of Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad and Head of Publicity and Media Department Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair.
After the meeting, Hamidur Rahman Azad told reporters that the houses of leaders and workers of 11 Jamaat-led parties are being attacked after the elections and the Election Commission has been informed about this. In protest of this attack, the 11-party alliance will take out a protest procession from the north gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital today.
The Jamaat leader alleged that electoral manipulation, including the use of black money, has been done. It has been seen that officials on duty at some centers have sealed themselves. Voting has also been disrupted and panic has spread. Due to these reasons, the voting has been low. We, who voted together, have repeatedly informed the commission, and have also informed it locally. But we have not received any satisfactory action.
He also alleged that abnormal voting has taken place in some centers. Extra ballots have been used here. Overall, the election process was not good. Agents were forcibly evicted during vote counting. The result sheets of the votes have been tampered with. The agent of Dhaka-6 constituency has been changed.
