10 injured in clash between two parties over dominance
At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two parties over dominance in Madaripur. Several cocktail explosions occurred during this time. The incident took place in Balia area of Mostafapur union of Sadar upazila at around 8 pm on Wednesday (February 25).
Police and locals said that there was a dispute between Nasir Hawlader of Balia village of Sadar upazila and Ayub Ali Matubbar of the same area over dominance. Yesterday morning, Ayub Ali Matubbar’s daughter Sumaiya had an argument with Nasir Hawlader’s wife Runi Begum. In this regard, Nasir Hawlader’s wife and daughter beat Sumaiya together in the afternoon. Based on this, Nasir Hawlader and Ayub Ali Matubbar’s people got into a clash with local weapons at night. At least 10 people were injured in this. At that time, panic spread throughout the area due to multiple cocktail explosions. On receiving information, RAB and police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station OC Abul Kalam Azad said that after receiving the news of the clash, police and RAB members went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police are deployed in the area. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
